Semaglutide works to lower high blood sugar by increasing the amount of insulin that is released, lowering the amount of glucagon released, and by delaying gastric emptying. As a GLP-1 agonist, semaglutide also controls appetite and thus helps you to reduce the amount of food intake. Semaglutide is a medication for chronic weight management used in conjunction with diet and exercise. When used in conjunction with lifestyle changes, this weight loss drug tool can be effective in helping patients lose excess weight.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SEMAGLUTIDE WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM
HOW IS OUR COMPOUNDED VERSION DIFFERENT FROM OZEMPIC OR WEGOVY?
It isn’t. Ozempic and Wegovy are the brand names for semaglutide (generic name). Our medication is sourced from the highest-level compounding pharmacies and is almost identical to the brand name offerings.
WHY DOES IT COST MORE FOR THE TOTAL PROGRAM THAN A LA CARTE?
The program is the “complete package”. Multiple studies over many years have shown that any weight loss management or medication, including semaglutide, is more effective when combined with a comprehensive program that includes direct physician oversight, blood chemistry monitoring, body composition measurements, fitness training and nutritional counseling. While we do offer ‘just’ semaglutide injections a la carte, we too are seeing the most dramatic results in our clients who embrace the total program.
HOW BIG IS EACH DOSE?
The dosing varies throughout the program. All clients are started at the lowest dose recommended by the manufacturers (0.25 mg) and slowly titrated upward over several weeks to the maximum dose (2.4 mg) or the desired rate of weight loss. The reason for the titration is to minimize the development of side effects and to prevent too rapid weight loss which is unhealthy. The titration protocol is done whether you are taking the compounded formula or a prescription alternative.
WHAT ABOUT REBOUNDING AFTER THE INJECTIONS ARE OVER?
There isn’t so much a ‘rebounding’ as a return to previous habits which cause the return of weight. Semaglutide acts, in part, to decrease or suppress the appetite – this in combination with an improved diet and enhanced exercise regimens results in the weight loss. If the client continues to follow the lessons learned during the program, they should expect maintenance of the weight loss. As we have learned over the years through Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and other mainstream diet programs the prolonged benefit of weight loss is only sustained with continued diligence and commitment – semaglutide is the ‘jump start’ many people need.
