Mikaila Foster embodies Strata’s whole-person approach to health and wellness. A Registered Yoga Teacher with a background in physical therapy and rehabilitation, Mikaila brings a holistic philosophy to her work, blending a robust knowledge of traditional treatments with a passion for active living and a reverence for the role of mindfulness and spirituality in the healing journey.

“I truly believe that movement is medicine,” she says. “When we move our best, we live our best life. Movement, after all, is how we play, how we work, and often how we love, through dancing, lifting up children, and embracing our loved ones.”

Mikaila encourages her clients to approach yoga not just as a way to stay fit and build strength, but as an opportunity to cultivate a deeper connection to themselves and their inner light. Her vinyasa-style yoga classes are often held outdoors on the property’s Mesa Terrace, allowing guests to tap into the healing nature of their surroundings — bountiful sunshine, clean mountain air, and enchanting red rock formations — as well as the powerful collective energy of the class itself.

A Physical Therapist and Certified Brain Injury Specialist in addition to being a Registered Yoga Teacher, Mikaila holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northern Arizona University, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2017. When she’s not teaching, Mikaila can be found indulging her passion for mindful movement of all kinds — whether through travel or daily hikes with her beloved dog.

A firm believer in the power of staying present to the little joys in life, Mikaila advises anyone on a wellness journey to practice gratitude for the strength of their body, the power of their thoughts, and the love of their community. “Nurture each of those aspects of your life,” she says. “When you move well, think well, and love well — you ultimately live well.”
